“Detroit Beatdown” is named after a slowed-down, raw but groovy, deep and jazzy soul driven artistic adaptation of Detroit dance music. The motor city touts the claim to being the birth of “techno” (keeping sure the distinction between ‘techno’ and ‘electronic music’) and these guys hearken back to the glory days with this mix. However, it is the unique cross-genre exploration which represents the creative pulse in Detroit’s current electronic underworld that is perfected here. These are the types of sounds heard at funky late night after-parties. The trio of Mike Clark, Norm Talley and Delano Smith keep your head bouncing and your brain stimulated.
